
Teen Substance Abuse Prevention Assembly

(For Junior-High and High School Students)
This program incorporates ethnic cultural tools as effective diversion and re-direction for
teen youth. Thomas brings story cosmology to life as he inspires cultural exploration. He conveys a
dynamic prevention message that reaches the pulse of students. Mr. McCormack demonstrates the
synergistic impact of story, song, poetry, music, theater and spontaneity. Some students get
to experience the cultural objects during an interactive window halfway through the assembly.
This program highlights rites of passage from different cultures. A lively discussion ensues that is profound and informative. A summary with a question and answer period is at the close. (The assembly runtime is 45-60 minutes.)
* Mr. McCormack will meet with administrators, specialists or counselors prior to the
assembly to determine the substance abuse areas they want him to address during the
presentation.

Teen Wellness Assembly
Through story inquiry, McCormack evokes curiosity from youth about art-of-living practices. Students experience stress and tough challenges, not just their parents! This insightful presentation discusses openly the biological activity and damage caused through different drugs. What are positive thrill activities for adrenalin rush that are safe and fun? McCormack provides healthy alternatives that build well being - which move students in the direction of wellness research leading to exciting career options. This assembly is presented in an informal setting (library - multi-purpose room, etc) and consists of demonstration, story questions, story answers and circular group sharing. (45-60 minutes)
